Park Hyatt is probably the best hotel in Beijing -- really world class and a great location. Long walk to Tianamen square but right on 2 subway lines so quite easy to get around. And the best view around plus a stunning 25m pool on the 59th floor. Markedly better than the hotels mentioned earlier on this thread. It might be the best (debatable), but when someone inquires about
4 or 5 star properties, they probably aren't willing to shell out $400 per night.
And, as JPDM noted, the Park Hyatt is not especially close to Tiananmen. While this isn't a deal breaker for me (i.e. I don't like going there), Line 1 is complete hell most of the time (Line 6 from the Conrad is better).
