For the sake of keeping this thread on track, I'll just say this: you'll get a much bigger room - a Suite really - at the Pen for the same price you'd get an entry level room (or Cat. 2) at the MO. I originally booked the MO Deluxe and just moved to a Second Cat. Suite at the Pen for the same price.

As for SIN, she's now suspended, but RobynG said that after 16 FS stays, the SIN location was the best of the bunch (better than Tokyo). Take that as you will - I'm not vouching for her - just saying.

Anyways, back on track....

ps, love having trains on this forum!! This is where it belongs IMO.

FlyingdoctorWu: if you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying (ballpark is fine) for the train ride? I'm considering the same ride for myself and the wife.
Thanks for the thoughts on Bangkok. Now I'm thinking of amantaka for 3 days before hand. But the Pen does have more room for the money than the MO. For what it is worth, both of my friends who live in Bangkok actually recommend hotels closer to the core just for access to transit because of traffic. They've always dreamed of staying at the raffles (iconic hotel) so I'll make that happen.

there is discussion here, maybe including MegatopLover

i presume LL meant luxurylink, maybe this E&O deal:

It is indeed Luxury Link. The trip I am looking at us the Bangkok to Singapore 3 night, booking into a state cabin. Luxury link also has a 10% off coupon which brought the price down even more. Rack for the dates we looked at were $2964 per person for a Pullman with upgrade at booking and $200 credit. I'm not sure what the virtuoso rate and benefits were but the price that LL had was quite a bit savings off of rack. I've used LL only once before and was quite happy with them; hopefully will be this time as well.
