To make it more complicated, I purchased the tickets through airmiles so now have to go through them, after a long phone with them today they tell me Delta refuses to refund the ticket because they maintain it is a legal connection.
I also noticed my original flight was no longer available on the Delta website, but maybe if they consider pre-cleared flights from Canada as domestic then the 35 minute min comes into play?
