I did two MR's early last year because the price was so good and it gave me double EQM's. I usually travel to HNL roughly every other month (5-6 trips per year) so figured I might need a few extra miles and, for $200 total and double EQM's, it gave me some wiggle room in case I wanted to burn some Avios instead of paying cash.

Turns out, I made 2 more trips than I had planned and this last trip that I am on now is excess beyond the 40K I needed for Gold. I could have skipped the MR's but I love to fly, I like the Boardroom, I liked doing the same-plane turns to LAX and it was cheap so no regrets. I won't do a MR again that early next year unless they come out with double EQM's again. That was the selling point to me. One day of flying and I was halfway to MVP so it was definitely worth it and I would do it again. Without double miles, I'll wait until later in the year and see what miles I need to maintain Gold, if any.
