I have just obtained the M&M UK Credit Card, hoping to stop my balance from expiring December 31st 2014, but I just noticed that I need to hold it for 3 months before the miles are protected.

Anyone had any experience of this? Any way to protect these miles otherwise (without going for status in a month)?
