Considering switching from Citi AAdvantage Platinum to AmEx Gold
I'm losing my infatuation with American. I initially got their card because DFW is a major hub for AA and I do travel to Latin America now and then. Figured it'd be nice to rack up the miles. However, having dealt with several disappointments with AA on their domestic product, I'm considering mixing things up a bit.
I'm not traveling for business as much now, and when I did I was mostly flying Delta. My usual leisure trips are to WAS and NYC, both of which have decent nonstop options on DL, UA (eeegh), VX, and WN. I haven't flown VX and WN but VX seems to have a better soft product and WN is certainly dirt cheap. I don't rack up enough miles on leisure travel to secure FF status, so that's a wash.
From my understanding, you earn triple points on travel purchases right? And Membership Rewards offers a 1:1 ratio for VX and DL, right? Seems like that's a better earning rate than my current card or an airline-specific card.
Anyone here switch from AA loyalty to AmEx MR?
