I thought that maybe one of us shares a name with someone famous - my wife's name is very French. Not likely that we've earned the distinction through our potential influence - my wife's a humanitarian worker and I'm a journalist who writes mostly about science and a (very) little bit about travel.

Who knows, though? I'll report back in a couple of weeks on the flight experience (e.g., if we get upgrades, etc.). We're based in Bangui, so we priority boarding and baggage handling don't mean much, at least on the way to Europe.

I also suspect that Club 2000 may have suffered an extreme devaluation recently. I tried to research Club 2000 online, but mostly came up with info that's several years old. Any thoughts?
Hi! See my reply to your post on the Delta forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...es-member.html). It's a computer glitch that happens when Delta Silvers (not sure if other Elites as well) have the extra baggage benefit on an Air France flight. Do not expect anything else!
I've got upgraded from Premium Economy to Business before (W class, very expensive ticket) but the boarding pass still shows Silver. I've also got the VIP notation a few times but this was related to the corporate agreement of the entity purchasing my ticket and not based on FF status.

This is how it looks on my next AF Reservation:
