Tembo, it is exceptionally expensive to just get a drink at a restaurant/cafe on a department store restaurant arcade floor. It's very common for a casual dept store restaurant to offer a decent lunch set including meal+drink+dessert for 1000yen and yet a glass of iced coffee alone could cost 500yen.

This is not reflective of how things are generally priced in Japan, though. There's plenty of places where you can enjoy a drink for reasonable prices.
