No different from Airlines or other Loyalty Programs. You only get the relevant stay credits if you turn up and use the Flight, Room Car-Hire etc that you committed and prepaid to do.
If nearby, you can turn up, checkin, collect keycard and leave. Hotel will check you out at say midday next day , in your absence and then award qual nights + points.
