Reviving this thread as it seems to the most appropriate for my needs.

First time in Shanghai, looking for a hotel near my offices in Jin’an District. Local people recommend the Intercontinental Puxi, Portman Ritz, Nikko, Pei Mansion, and other hotels near the office. Wondering if there are better recommendations for being near nightlife / things to do, but not cross town. Thanks!
