I filled out one of these surveys recently. I gave the property tons of positive remarks in the comment box and high scores (can't remember exactly, 8s to 10s), and I think a 9 overall. It was a great stay overall, but I didn't give them a 10 because the gym was under renovation when I was there and there was no alert posted on the hotel's site. The FDC wouldn't give me a pass to the gym across the street that they said was the back-up location in the welcome letter, because guests were complaining about them not being accepted. The front desk said they would follow-up and call my room to let me know where to workout, and of course they never did. A few weeks after the stay, I received two follow-up e-mails from different employees at the hotel, with each one saying that they hope I can return so they can "score that prized 10's in my eyes". I hope the hotel didn't get dinged because I gave them a 9.

It's interesting because I don't receive a survey after all stays (maybe 20%, max?). They tend to come from properties that are already amongst the better ones I've stayed at in the chain, and not the one's at the bottom end that really need feedback for improvement.

OP I think that letter is shady and you should report it to corporate.
