UA's 737-900 Aircraft With no Entertainment System

I forgot to check if the wifi is free on these dark planes. Last night our 737-900 had direct tv and wifi, which I think had a fee. I ultimately just used my own device for entertainment because it's suited to my interests :-). I also think most pax with devices need to have some preloaded entertainment, because any seat could have a bad screen / malfunctioning IFE and a $100 ecert voucher isn't going to help during the flight. In the old days we didn't have this stuff (when IFE was down) but now we do, and I think a smartphone screen is a more optimal size for a limited seat space.
