Just a random though -- please don't flame me because this isn't a topic worthy of discussion, was just curious to see if there was some rhyme / reason for this practice (my thoughts are that this probably has roots back into the golden age of air travel).
Refresh your hands and face. No magic, though I sometimes do ask for a second one to wipe down the tray table and any other gross bits that may be apparent to me (screen, etc...)

I rather like the hot towel service and do find it very refreshing. I look forward to it, actually and would not be upset if the towels were even a bit hotter.
