I run into this at Newark all the time with the artificial split between A and C terminals. My rule of thumb is to park where I'm most likely to return to and take my checked bags (if any) to the terminal I'm leaving from.

Golf clubs complicate it, but as long as it's manageable I try to check bags in the place least likely to misplace them.

Same model could translate for any other airport. just need to decide if departure or return convenience is paramount and roll with it and de-risk bag handling as much as you can.
