I had to make a quick trip to Bethesda with a grant application a few months after 9/11 when I found out airlines no longer accepted shipments from anyone but "trusted shippers." PITA. I got the rubber glove/SSSS treatment at every airport on that last minute ticket with no luggage but six copies of the grant proposal.
