The AirTrain is on the north side of the terminal complex and, assuming LHR departs from C South, you probably won't save much time taking AirTrain. Also, E UC is on way to C if you walk and plan to use a UC. No reason to use underground tram.
The one time I checked my bag at E for a domestic flight that was leaving from E, rather than going to C for "domestic" check in, my bag did not make it to where I was going, and was, in fact, "still in Houston!" when I looked for it at my final destination. I'm afraid of a similar event here.

LHR departs from C North best I can tell - has been lately, anyway. I do prefer the E UC, though.

I was only going to take it if I park at E and need to check my bag at C. Won't be going through security at E if I do that. It is definitely getting to be "long in the tooth!"
