QF have a reasonable reputation in this area (so does AA) but CX is very difficult. If you talk to those members of BAEC who have to liaise with CX they seem to dread every encounter with them. So yes ideally don't let the CX number get as far as crediting, I'd try again in the lounge and at the gate to head this off.
