Having flown KE and OZ exclusively, operational upgrades on long haul flights such as LAX to ICN is almost impossible. I'm a lowly KE Morning Calm but my father is a KE Million Miler Skyteam Elite Plus, never once in 10 years did he get a free upgrade on LAX to ICN. Now going from ICN to SIN, is possible if they are overbooked. On short haul interasia flights, I've once in awhile recieved upgrades when the flight is overbooked and I checked in late.
