I've just taken advantage of this sale for a little new year trip to Shanghai. Booked into CW with hotel (so a BA holidays booking) but it struck me whether we could upgrade outbound to F using avios.

Rang BA and they said it was possible for 60,000 for the two of us so said I'd think about it.

Came off the phone and wondered if anyone has successfully used a 241 voucher for such a purpose? Given that the journey starts in London and is on BA metal could it be possible?

Ie: Paying 30,000 avios to upgrade us both one way.

(Ideally not the most efficient use of a 241 but we have one triggering soon.)
