Korean Air seeks joint venture with Delta-report

South Korea's flagship carrier Korean Air Lines Co is seeking antitrust immunity to form a U.S. joint venture with DL, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported in its early Tuesday edition.

The newspaper quoted Korean Air President Sim Lee-taek as saying the South Korean carrier and code-sharing partner Delta plan to seek antitrust immunity from the U.S. government this month.

"If we are not affected by antitrust regulations, we will not only be able to share passengers in all of the United States, but will be able to form a closer relationship in marketing," Shim told the newspaper in an interview.

Korean Air officials were not immediately available for comment.
