Korean Air Predicts Turnaround Year; Expects to Show Profit, Expand Its Reach Through Code Shares & Alliances
KAL expects 2002 -- its 30th anniversary in America -- to be a turning point in its history and one which KAL executives are viewing optimistically.
``During the past five years, we've weathered nearly every challenge an airline can face, and we've emerged a better, stronger and more customer-oriented airline,'' says Korean Air Chairman and CEO, Y.H. Cho.
Cho is referring to a variety of obstacles including the airline's own operational issues, the country of Korea's FAA downgrade, the region's economic challenges, the worldwide recession and, of course, the impact of the Sept. 11 attacks on the travel industry.
But Cho is confident this is going to be Korean Air's turnaround year ... and for good reason:
Code sharing will be reinstated with Delta Air Lines and Air France in May and April.
