I'm heading back to Tokyo this spring but my return flight includes an overnight at HKG before a CX flight back to ORD. If I can avoid putting it in my checked bag I'd prefer to do that and just pick it up at the HKG Duty Free instead of the NRT / HND duty free (though I do have a few Wine "Diapers"that have worked for me in the past with bringing back Bourbon from Seattle Washington).
I believe they sell them but I'm not 100% sure.
The point is moot though as you cannot hand carry liquids on to a US bound flight from HKG even those purchased after security. There will be a check before you board your flight.
I would suggest you buy this in Japan and then put into your checked baggage. Another option is to purchase this at HKG when you arrive and then check on departure. I'm not sure which location has better pricing but I would guess Japan.
