I live right on the border and ship various packages through Canada Post to Canadian destinations. Until recently, my US Amex worked on their website for printing shipping stickers, etc. It stopped fairly recently. I can also rattle off a couple of minor things where having a Canadian Mastercard/Visa would be helpful. The charges would never exceed $200 and am willing to prepay the money.

I have a Canadian mailing address, chequing/current account with BMO) and a SIN (obviously not a Canadian permanent resident's number if you know the numbering system at all). I'm trying to figure out the best way to get a low value Mastercard/Visa debit or prepaid card to use with their website. BMO has one for $6.95 a year, but you need to be a Canadian PR. Most of the cards charge apx. a $4 a month service fee which I don't want to pay.

My US credit history is perfect, but I'm not a Cannuck. Any simple solutions?
