Anyhow, being on row 2, this delay allowed my daughter to go and meet the flight crew, look at the flight deck, have a nice chat with the Captain and SFO, and for the Purser to get a handle of her and settle her in. We then had a lovely flight with a most attentive (silver tie) purser who really took the time, as did the Captain once we landed, to ensure her experience was top notch. The meal was good (pasta and chicken offering) and really appreciated by kiddo after a massive trek around (and up and down!) Rome, and she enjoyed all 2 hour and 10 minutes of the flight. So this one-way (POUG) CE flight was 100% worth it as it complemented a special day. I don't know if they have started on this model, but the aircraft was an unrefurbished A319.
Don't forget a
ba.com/welldone feedback does genuinely get back to the member of staff involved. It's always good motivation to know that your work has made someone's day and it may even help the crew member in the future if they're looking for promotion or working elsewhere within BA. It may be worth doing a welldone for both purser and captain.
Most BA crew I've encountered have been decent, with some stars like the ones you mention. This really does make the CE difference. Of course you're not guaranteed a good crew, but it has been my experience that it's rare to encounter a bad one.
Some people of course may be less lucky.
