I'm with CIHY on this one. I favour a window seat in CW and once I'm in there, I'm really not aware of the other seats in the cabin at all so I've never understood the flying dorm references. (Not saying those views are invalid, just that I don't get it).

I agree that the 380 is quieter but it's a bit of a mixed bag for me. The engine noise on older planes muffles almost all CC and passenger noise, which it turn is cancelled by my Bose. On the 787 and 380 those noises are much more apparent and since noise cancelling doesn't work with irregular noises I've found these flights to be some of the noisiest I've taken. You can hear loud conversations, crew in the galley, children etc right across the plane at times.

So - for me, if service is that much better, I'd do the 777 over the 380.
