I updated my last post because I goofed. I wasn't selecting "nonstop only" from the "number of stops" drop-down menu. When I did that, I see that there is no award availability in either J or F on AA.com on that route on those dates. Shoot.
Looks like I may end up paying cash for a J fare, and maybe seeing if I can later use points to upgrade to F. Given that, my options are:
- BA J from SFO > LHR direct
- UA J from SFO to LHR direct
- VS UC from SFO to LHR direct
- AA J from SFO > LAX > LHR
The BA/UA/VS options are direct, which is appealing. However, from what I gather, the new AA 777-300 J class service is very good.
Tough decision!
