As others have said, I tend to speak in my normal voice, just slower. I cannot do accents, every time I try I just end up sounding ridiculous. I will try to speak the local language as best I can and as much as I can but I'm not forcing anything.
Oh and I call it "The United States". Then if I'm asked where, I'll say North Carolina.
