As 1 ticket QF will put you on the next flight to MEL at no cost. This is not uncommon.

On the way back to JNB is more of risk, but you should be OK. Melbourne traffic from the city to the airport at that time of the morning is very slow & congested. Try to get to MEL early and look if your flight is on time. If not on time, go to the QF service desk.
