Meal service is based on miles. At 880 miles the flight does not qualify for meal service. It's scheduled for 2hrs 40mins, but this means that the flight is really only in the air for about two hours, maybe even less.
Which is really a shame. Since similar routes (well, even shorter) like AMS-BCN have full hot meal service and Champagne (well, sometimes, it's a European sparkling wine, and not Champagne on KLM) in Europe Business Class. (of course, the seating is blah..)
