I booked at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek earlier this week and got a nor1 offer to standby upgrade to the Waldorf Astoria Orlando next door for $70 a night. Based on current pricing at the Waldorf, it would amount to a substantial savings of over $1300 for the week if the upgrade were to be approved. Needless to say, I requested the upgrade so I could at least consider it. It seems to me that a bed-and-breakfast package at the Waldorf the week of Christmas for $199 a night (including the upgrade charge) would be hard to beat.

I've never heard of upgrading from one hotel to another before. In this case, they are part of the same complex. I'm still curious how the arrangement would work. We're booked on the bed-and-breakfast package at the Hilton so I am not sure if we would stay at the Waldorf but still eat breakfast at the Hilton or if the breakfast would get upgraded to the Waldorf as well.

I noticed that the estandby link that was in my confirmation email on Monday has now disappeared from it. The only method I have to modify my upgrade request now is to access it from the upgrade request confirmation I received after placing my request. So, I better not lose that email.
