Strategy to non rev to Shanghai from US and be compliant with 72 hr TWOV?
Hi All,
I saw this strategy mentioned in the TWOV master thread, but couldn't find if anyone I had ever done it successfully.
Here is my plan:
1. Buy refundable ticket on United from PVG-ORD Wed 12/3 5pm
2. Delta Nonrev: SFO-SEA-NRT-PVG land PGV Sunday 850pm 11/30
3. Show my refundable United ticket to Shanghai Customs and get 72 TWOV stamp
4. Tour Shanghai with friend who lives there for few days
5. Try to Nonrev back to US on Delta: PVG-SEA-SFO leave on Wed 12:40pm and if get on, cancel United refundable ticket
6. If I can't get on Delta Nonrev PVG-SEA on Wed, I will fly on the United confirmed refundable ticket from PVG-ORD that night (i.e. Wed 5pm) and try to non rev back to SFO once at ORD
I will print out TIMAC TWOV regulations, confirmed ticket, and all non rev itineraries prior to leaving.
Has anybody successfully tried this strategy? Any reasons it might not work?
