Agreed -- it's ridiculous.
I'd still apply (and rely on the 'front page') if I was outside the 24 month window and found 50,000 Avios sufficiently interesting.
Not ridiculous, just sloppy. I think it's an oversight. Somebody rewrote the landing page, and missed the conflicting language. So I'd guess whichever one is the newer one is correct, and the older one is outdated. The question is, which came first, the chicken or the egg.
