We're headed to San Diego from Jan 15-20 to take a little break from the Maine winter. We have family in Carlsbad so we know the area reasonably well, and we almost always stay at the PH Aviara because it's close to our relatives and legoland for our daughter (age 2). Anyway, I was thinking about splitting up the stay since we keep saying we never see any of the other San Diego hotels. I take from the recent reviews that we should skip the HR La Jolla?

I was thinking the night of arrival at either the Manchester or Andaz (the 15th is a Thurs, so the Andaz may be too much of a party to have a toddler with us). Then 3 nights at either the HR La Jolla or PH Aviara, and the last night at the Manchester or Andaz, opposite of the first night (the 20th is a Tuesday, the Andaz might be quiet). Would it be wise to do the Aviara, which we know and like, over the HR La Jolla?
