The software, certainly.

If one could get a non-Amazon ROM for the Fire Phone (and that sounds like a "remains to be seen" rather than as inevitable as I thought), it's hard to argue that the Moto hardware is better across the board. Indeed, the Fire phone has higher specs in most (but not all) areas.

That's especially true for the 2013 LTE G, and unless only has snuck out when I wasn't looking, I don't think there is a 2014 LTE G yet (although I assume it's only a matter of time.)

The fire phone is/has:
* a substantially faster CPU
* significantly thinner (than either model)
* a marginally bigger screen than the 2013 LTE model (although smaller than the 2014)
* a higher resolution [13MP] camera with OIS (vs 5MP on the 2013/8MP on the 2014 and no OIS on either)

OTOH, the card slot on the LTE and 2014 G is a plus and while thick either model of the G is quite light.

Right now, I'd still get the G given the software, but at this pricing there will be a lot of incentive to get better ROMs working on the Fire phone.
