I had a reservation on AA 2477 on 11/6 from DFW to LAX. 2477 went mechanical and i have paperwork from AA saying it was mechanical. I was to arrive in LAX at 8pm to catch flight from LAX to Auckland on Air New Zealand at 10pm. 2477 did not land until 10:15 so I missed the flight and had to rebook for 11/7 with a $50 penalty fee and paid $2439 to go on 11/7. ANZ did not recognize the AA mechanical letter that the agent in LAX said they would and AA gave me 7,500 miles. I thanked them for the miles and pointed out that I was out $2489 that I already have well over 500,000 so didn't ask for miles. They refuse to contact NZ to see if the cost can be revised, and it seems to me that I am the innocent party. AA did not get me to LAX on time and made no effort to get me rebooked on NZ. Realize it would have been smoother on One World Carrier but one can only get to NZ by going to Sydney and back to Auckland or going Hong Kong and back.
