I have found a balance transfer or Visa check will not offer miles, read the small print on the offer. I have had a offer that pays miles one time only...5000 miles limit.
You can pay off one Visa with a balance transfer check from another Visa....but never from the same bank.
You will get your mileage credit from the orginal Visa purchase...
