Where did you get the 20k figure? Is that in Y?

Consider also EI, as the charges are much lower, but you need to telephone to check availability.

I'm afraid that US has been in oneworld for a while now! They do have some redemption options with their old Star Alliance partners though, but probably not Aeroplan.
