Checked out after 3 nights and migrated to the JWM. I asked the staff at the Lounge to call ahead and find out when my room would be ready, and whether a suite upgrade was available. The reply was the I could go down immediately, it was then 10 in the morning, but, alas, suites were very hard to come by, so no upgrade. I checked online as I was packing and they were available for immediate booking on the Marriott website for the next 3 days. As for fulfilling the promise of the ad campaign, not at this time.
Taken up to the 16th on arrival as a Plat and ministered to by a Trainee, given 18th floor midway down with coffee and scones on the way. My sense is that the room was not much bigger than 57 and a fraction of the corner suite I had just left at the Ren. Furnishings and finishes a little understated and stuffy after the chic gloss and gleam, but the bedding is significantly better. The gym is usually very busy and as good as I remember it. Marriott Cafe is a very good breakfast but I prefer the Flavors at the Ren. At dinner the Cafe Buffett with free flow wine comes in at 2400 bht after the Plat 20% discount. The staff at the CL reminded me to show them my card and not rely on the in house records, have them run the discount immediately. I forgot, after the free flowing wine, but remembered after signature, called them back and it was fixed in less than a minute. Fastest billing turn around time I've ever experienced...
I like this part of the Suk for wandering, lots more street life and demographic mix around Nana than up by Siam/Chid Lom
One noticeable Bennie to JWM is 3 pressings a day instead of 1 at the Ren. With in house laundry north of $5/ piece its a pretty significant savings. I assume it's only an ironing but my shirts sure come back "fresher" than when I send them in...I think I'll splurge and go solo at the New York Steakhouse tonight....I saved a ton on laundry !
