I've changed my flights many times before midnight. That isn't what the SDC rule says on the website either:
Requests may be made up to six hours prior to your desired new flight. For example, if your original flight leaves at 7:00 p.m. and you would like to change to the 1:30 p.m. flight, you may request the change as early as 7:30 a.m.
For MVP® Gold Mileage Plan™ members and those traveling in the same reservation, the 6 hour request limitation does not apply — all eligible and available flights will be displayed. Changes can be made online during Web Check-in beginning at 10:00pm local time the day prior to original flight.
