Wow. Don't do that. Book the car beforehand. I've seen a guy refused the CD at DXB because he upgraded to JCL on board, therefore didn't book in advance. I found this pretty hard as Volvos are queuing outside like at a taxi station. At DXB, the outsourced drivers are not paid by legs, but get monthly fixed salaries. So where's the loss for EK ?!?
On the other hand, I once showed my op-ed FCL BP and got the Mercedes-Benz ^ (but I did book CD with JCL ticket).
As for the 15min waiting deadline, this is indeed for the leg TO the airport. CD have to wait you at arrival as who knows what may delay you : baggage trouble, etc.
