I can't choose seats on AC website and have to call them, so I thought I will ask this here before calling AC so I know if I am allowed to choose seats in these rows.

I believe you may choose a preferred seat in either case, however, there will be a charge for those seats, since you do not have status.

The cost for those seats varies depending on distance, so if you purchased the flight on AC.com, you can use "manage my bookings" to select them, or if not, you need to call in.
