They are essentially the same aircraft - the 77L just carries fewer passengers. Both have 9-abreast Y seating

Are you confusing the 77L with the 5 77W's that are configured in HD with 10-abreast? (We commonly refer to them as 77H, but AC doesn't differentiate except when you look at the seat map).
