Thought I would throw in my 2 cents. The walk around Uluru is great and all, but in the end you are walking around a giant rock in the middle of no where.
If you have time, try to do the Kings Canyon Rim walk. It is significantly more scenic and a very nice walk.

That is a nice walk, but just as hot as Uluru. Also not easy to get to.
