What's worse is that in my cases (I've had many experiences with these over the past two years) is that the infant ticket on an award doesn't show up, UA will never tell you about it, and for the uninformed, you would never know about it until you show up at the airport. Period. I've had this happen on EVERY partner ticket using miles and the only time we had our infant properly ticketed by booking on ua.sux was on a flat: IAD-MUC round-trip in UA metal (reduced mileage award last winter). Then, when we went to cancel the trip (took a cheap revenue Wideroe trip instead), it took nearly 3 months to cancel the ticket and get our money back. Sad.

Whether there is a children's fare on OP's specific route and fare bucket is another matter. If the tickets price at twice that of the adult fare, it's worth a call to UA to make certain that this is not a glitch.
This is the correct statement, but given that my daughter just turned two and I haven't been in the market for 'childrens fares', too long, let me state what I think I believe thus far:
There is no real 'childrens fare'. On a published fare in a given market for a set city-pair, within the Fare Rules of said fare, there might be a discount for child (aged 2-11 [and 0-2 for infants in their own seat]). That said, it seems like UA, and possibly every US carrier, has no child discount on fares within the US.
I've had two years of infant flights (my daughter just turned two) and while I have a second one about to be born, I will not be choosing UA anymore, due to their issues with everything infant. Now, I get to learn the ropes of other carriers and infants and find out what works best for me, especially on the premium award ticket route - some of those 10% full fares were big bullets to bite, especially when dealing with crummy UA systems that would take a 2 hour phone call to get 'straight' only to show up at the airport and have to deal with the partner who complains about UA saying the ticket was never properly issued...
