One of them booked via AA, the other BA. Neither shows any MCE or preferred seat avai.

Yes, both are award tickets.

The BA-issued booking does have my AS#, for which I reached 75K status yesterday. Not surprised if it's too soon for the system to recognize the status, but it is on the reservation now.
