Flying DTW-ATL-LIR-ATL-DTW. Tried to tack on a DTW-MIA at the end of the award ticket, but was quoted another 25K miles (basically, the add-on segment counted as a separate trip).

I was advised that I can't use my ORIGIN city as a stopover (the computer was seeing DTW-LIR-DTW as a RT - trip over).

Is it possible that the computer was pricing the add-on segment (DTW-MIA) as a separate ticket because the MPM was exceeded?
