I would be amazed if 2% of CE travellers are chasing TPs. TPs may be a minor factor for some of them but that's as far as it goes, it may be a major factor for the denizens of this bulletin board. On many of the routes I fly you can normally work out why someone is in CE (company travel policy, well healed leisure travelling, connecting from longhaul) and there is a danger here that we over-analyse certain details of the product. I certainly know about these changes, and yes I am continuing in CE, as I did yesterday and will be again later today. We all have our own motivations about this.
And yes, in my experience CE remains as popular with travellers, if not more popular, than I've seen it for many years, and I think that's more to do with economic factors outside the airline industry.
