That is purely subjective.
There are plenty of people who think it is worth the extra money, hence why the CE cabins are so full and BA can get away with diminishing seat comfort/meals etc.

Not quite. In fact to status holders, that is a zero benefit (as is priority boarding).
The benefits to status holders are:
- empty seat next to you
- extra attention from the crew
- access to wardrobe space
- meal of some sort
- unlimited drinks
- first off the plane
For many people (myself included), I will always pay for CE.
