We arrived at Zurich Airport about 3 hours before our scheduled departure. The signage from the train station to the check-in was well marked and the distance short. We found an empty check-in area and promptly checked-in (confirming our bags would be waiting in Warsaw and not checked-through to Chicago).

After checking-in we took the long walk to and through security. It took longer to walk from the check-in counter to the security line than it did from the train station to the check-in counter. Once airside, we spent the last of our Swiss Francs at the duty free shops and then followed the signs to the lounge on the 2nd floor. The lounge was enormous. When we arrived, it wasn’t very busy but it did fill up before we left. The lounge had several stations with self-serve beverages and food. There was a reasonable assortment of each. Upstairs from the lounge was a bar that was labelled as the longest lounge bar in the world. People were smoking inside; so, I didn’t stick around to measure it.

I spent most of our time in the lounge on my computer catching up on emails, news, and, of course, FT, before we left for the airplane. I enjoyed the lounge but was disappointed with the lack of more hot food. There was a lot of separation in the space that helped make the lounge feel more intimate than it should given how many people can be accommodated in the lounge.
