We booked this one-way train trip on the platform in Luzern. We did so because we had trip options nearly every half-hour and because our Swiss Pass had expired. We left the hotel about 18 minutes before the train was scheduled to depart and easily had time to walk to the train station, find the train, purchase the tickets from the platform vending machine, and board the train.

We did not reserve seats and the train was only about half-full. We selected seats (on the lower level to avoid lugging our larger bags upstairs) and placed our larger luggage in the designated space between seats. The seats were comfortable and had a good amount of leg room, especially because no one sat next to us.

The train ride was extremely smooth and moved very quickly. We were very comfortable and the train was on-time. So, we made it to the airport about 3 hours prior to our flight’s scheduled departure time.
